Live Your Dream: Flinging the Door Wide Open

It’s Joanne, welcoming you back to another Soulful Snaps. This week, I'm reflecting on what it truly means to live your dream—the excitement, the fear, and the incredible moment when a long-held goal finally knocks on your door.
My heart is so full it feels ready to spill over. I’m floating in a sea of gratitude, and I simply have to share the whirlwind of emotions with you.
Ten months ago, I planted a seed. A quiet, seemingly lofty dream to photograph an iconic New Zealand brand. It was one of those goals that feels so challenging, you never truly know if you'll get to live it out. Then, just a few days ago, that opportunity arrived. And oh my goodness, did I fling that door open wide.
When Mel approached me to shoot the cover of Metropol magazine, my first thought was, "This is it. This is my chance to live my dream." The excitement was electric.
The Dream That Found Its Moment
But then, a familiar voice piped up. A wave of self-doubt washed over, bringing little hot flushes of fear. "Am I ready for this?"
It’s a feeling I know so many of you will recognise. That moment where the "old you" tries to take the reins. And then I stopped. I said, "No. That's what the old Jo would say."
From Self-Doubt to "Bring It On!"
The new Jo says, "Bring it on, baby! Let's have some fun." So, that is the woman who is showing up. This week, I get to live my dream. And I get to do it in sisterhood with the most amazing, inspiring women.
I wouldn't be stepping into this moment without two women who believed in me: Mel and Nina. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Choosing to Live Your Dream Authentically
The woman showing up is my authentic self, ready to create beautiful images of connection. I am super pumped to collaborate and share in that creative energy.
