Sshh... It’s a Secret: Feeling Comfortable in Photos is Actually Really Easy.
Hi lovely souls,
It’s Joanne here.
This week’s Soulful Snap is one of those behind-the-scenes secrets I think everyone deserves to know…
You don’t need to be “photogenic.” You don’t need to know how to pose. You just need to show up as yourself — and I’ll do the rest.
One of the most beautiful things someone can say to me after a session is, “You made me feel so comfortable. I actually forgot I was being photographed.”
That’s the goal. Every. Single. Time.
Whether it’s your wedding day, a personal branding session, a portrait shoot, or even an intimate boudoir experience (yes — for men and women), I create a space where you feel seen, heard, and safe to be you.
I always begin with something really important:
When you look at a photo of yourself, what do you notice first?
Maybe it’s a sports injury that left a crooked nose. Maybe you don’t like your chin, your hair tucked behind your ears, your belly, or your smile.
Whatever your answer is, I’m here to gently work with that. To help minimise the parts you’re unsure about — and maximise the ones that make you shine.
Because yes, you deserve to love your photos. Not just tolerate them.
Sometimes, I might feel a bit extra at the start of a shoot — but that’s on purpose.
It’s not about being “too much,” it’s about mirroring.
If you’re nervous (totally normal!), my upbeat energy helps you meet me halfway. Together, we land in that sweet spot where your true personality comes out. And that’s the magic I love to capture.
Let’s Talk Energy

Ladies, if I could give you one tip?
Get your hair and makeup professionally done. It’s not about hiding anything — it’s about helping your natural features shine. A great MUA (makeup artist) brings out your eyes — your number one communicator — and gives your skin a beautiful finish that feels natural but polished.
If you're a nail biter like I once was, treat yourself to getting your nails done too. When I ask you to bring your hands to your face in a pose, you’ll feel proud. These little touches add elegance and confidence.
Quick Tip: Prepping Like a Pro
Over the years, I’ve built a toolbox full of tricks to help you look and feel your best:
- Knowing how to narrow the frame to flatter your body shape
- Playing with balance, curves, and symmetry
- Drawing attention to your eyes, posture, and personality
But honestly? You bring the most important tool — your story.
I’m just here to honour it.
