If you’re not the “traditional wedding” type of couple, you don’t need to get married in a traditional way. Maybe you’ve never fantasised about your wedding day, aren’t a fan of over-the-top ceremonies, would prefer not to have attendants, or you’re just simply not conventional people.
While we understand that traditional values and the expectations of loved ones may be important, we believe that your happiness and personal choices should be the ultimate guide and beginning to your marriage. There are many creative ways to include your loved ones in an elopement - you can invite a small number of guests, record the ceremony for later, or host a more casual party afterwards.

You’ll be greeted with a glass of bubbles and a tour of the homestead. Once you’re settled in, you’ll meet your celebrant and photographer to go through the final details. And on the day, you’ll be relaxed knowing there’s not a huge timeline to get through and your individuality as a couple can shine.

If you have been engaged for quite some time, and are ready to finally get married, eloping at Hemsworth Estate is the perfect intimate ceremony where you get to select the guest list or not have one at all! You’ll end the weekend with some beautiful photographs to look back on, knowing there was not one moment of stress in the entire process. Only 1-hour from Christchurch, and with dates available in all seasons, why wait to marry?
We can plan your elopement with a minimum of two weeks' notice, which includes two night’s stay in one of our beautiful suites, a registry-style ceremony, high-quality photography and your choice of delicious High Tea, Grazing or Ice-Cream to celebrate starting at $3500. We’ve carefully designed our elopement package to carve out precious time for the newlyweds. We’ll even slow down time if we can! You not only get to marry your special person but have a mini getaway as well. Whether you get ready together or apart is a personal preference, but we won’t allow you to waste a single moment of your wedding rushing around.

How does it work?
Elope at Hemsworth Estate
Eloping at Hemsworth Estate takes the monumental effort of wedding planning out of the picture. It turns one of the most memorable moments of your life into an intimate holiday complete with long-lasting souvenirs - your marriage!
When you enquire, we will go through your options for catering, photographer style, ceremony type. We will personally check all vendor availability and book services on your behalf. During your consultation, you’ll meet your photographer and celebrant to go over the finer details of the elopement and add your personal stamp as a couple.
All that’s left after this is to invite your loved ones, apply for your marriage licence, and book your transport. We’ll take care of the rest.
You’ll arrive the night before your elopement to bubbles on arrival, a tour of the homestead and once you’re settled in, a short meet and greet with your photographer and celebrant to go over the last few details. Enjoy a night to yourselves in one of our luxurious suites, and when you wake up, you’ll be treated to a breakfast fit for royalty.

I'm an expert at making you look good in front of the lens. I can do this by making you feel super comfortable and at ease from the get-go. People say I'm easy to be around, and our time together is a lot of fun. It's a true honour to capture the magic of your unique love and connection - sometimes you'll hardly know I'm there, and at others, I'll be helping and guiding you to look your very best.
There are so many beautiful locations around Hemsworth Estate to celebrate this new season of life with your true love; here are a few - Under a 100-year-old tree, in a feed shed, in an orchard, in the middle of blooming roses, under a chandelier, sitting down nice and comfy, a paddock of clover, in front of a green door, with your favourite four-legged folk, under a rose arch, in a wool or lambing shed, on a tractor!
